Tora-skap

Services in the synagogue

We hold services every Shabbat, both on Friday evening and Saturday morning. Services are traditional/orthodox and follow Ashkenazi customs, although they also hold influences from Sephardic traditions.

Click here to see times for services as well as candle lighting times for Shabbat and holidays.

Additionally, evening and morning services are held for the major holidays. Additional services can be held in connection with Yahrzeit, if requested.

Oslo is situated far up north, and start times for services in the evening vary according to the time of year.

We welcome visitors and request that you fill out this form before your visit if you are not a member and have not been with us before. Kindly remember that as this is an orthodox synagogue,it is not permitted to use phones during services and in the building during Shabbat and Yom Tov, and that taking photographs is strictly forbidden.

Kiddush

Kiddush

After the Shabbat morning service a cozy kiddush is arranged in the community hall. When we celebrate a Bar or Bat Mitzvah or other festive occasion, a larger kiddush is often arranged.

During kiddush, members of all ages enjoy each others’ company, and it is the highlight of the week for many.

We also often have youth activities after kiddush, while adults gather to discuss a shiur/Tora lesson, connected to the week’s Tora portion.
