When exporting food abroad, often to the USA or Israel, the importer may ask for a kosher certificate. This proves that the food has been inspected by a knowledgeable, Jewish inspector.
In Norway, the Rabbi of the Jewish Community of Oslo certifies production facilities on behalf of the Orthodox Union (OU. In addition, the community also performs its own certification making it possible to obtain an internationally recongised kosher certificate.
The Rabbi also supervises the communities kitchens, as well as those in the senior centre, the kindergarten, Kosher Catering and also for events outside the communities own buildings.
